Materials for Precision Components

We work with a wide range of engineering materials to meet different performance and application requirements for CNC machined parts, prosthetic components, medical-related parts and industrial precision components.

Material selection plays a key role in strength, weight, corrosion resistance, machining performance and long-term reliability. Choosing the right material helps ensure that the final part performs as expected in its working environment.

Material Selection Overview

This page provides an overview of commonly used materials and their characteristics, helping customers better understand the differences between each material option and select the most suitable material for their application.

Sunrise Industrial supports material review, drawing review and custom CNC machining for prototype, small batch and repeat production projects.

Materials We Commonly Work With

Lightweight Strength & Corrosion Resistance

Titanium

Titanium is widely used in precision components due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance and reliable mechanical performance. It is particularly suitable for applications where both structural performance and weight reduction are important.

  • Common grades include Grade 2, Grade 5 / Ti-6Al-4V and other titanium alloys.
  • Suitable for prosthetic components, medical-related parts, titanium fasteners, dental discs and custom CNC machined parts.
  • Good option when lightweight design and corrosion resistance are important.

Durable Structural Material

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel offers good strength, durability and corrosion resistance, making it a practical choice for many structural and mechanical components. It is often selected when parts require stable performance, wear resistance and long service life.

  • Common materials include 304, 316, 17-4PH, 430F and other stainless steel grades.
  • Used for adapters, fittings, shafts, fasteners, connectors and custom industrial components.
  • Suitable for parts requiring strength, corrosion resistance and cost balance.

Lightweight & Cost Balanced

Aluminum

Aluminum is often selected for its lightweight properties, good machinability and practical cost balance. It is commonly used in components where reducing weight and maintaining efficient production are both important.

  • Common aluminum grades include 6061, 7075 and other customer-specified alloys.
  • Used for lightweight housings, adapters, clamps, brackets and precision machined parts.
  • Can be combined with surface treatments such as anodizing, blasting or other finishing methods.

Special Functional Alloy

Titanium-Nickel Alloy

Titanium-nickel alloy, also known as Ti-Ni alloy or Nitinol, is a special functional material used in applications where elasticity, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance or special mechanical behavior may be required.

Compared with standard titanium or stainless steel, titanium-nickel alloy usually requires more careful review before machining. Material grade, supplied condition, tolerance requirements and application environment should be confirmed before production.

  • Suitable for special precision parts, medical-related components and functional mechanical applications.
  • Requires clear drawing, material grade and dimensional requirements before quotation.
  • Machining feasibility should be reviewed according to part structure and quantity.

Conductivity & Machining Applications

Copper and Copper Alloys

Copper and copper alloys are used for parts that require good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance or specific mechanical properties. These materials are also suitable for many industrial and precision mechanical applications.

  • Common options include pure copper, brass, bronze and other copper alloy materials.
  • Used for connectors, bushings, terminals, fittings, conductive parts and custom machined components.
  • Material selection should consider conductivity, strength, surface finish and oxidation protection.

Insulation, Low Friction & Lightweight Use

Engineering Plastics

Engineering plastics can be used for specific functional requirements such as insulation, low friction, lightweight structures or wear reduction. They are often selected for parts where metal is not the best option.

  • Common materials include POM / Delrin, PEEK, PTFE, nylon and other engineering plastics.
  • Used for spacers, sleeves, pads, bushings, support parts and custom lightweight components.
  • Material choice depends on load, friction, temperature and application environment.

For Special Project Requirements

Other Materials

Additional materials may be selected according to specific design and application requirements. For custom projects, we can review the drawing, material grade, tolerance and production feasibility before quotation.

  • Other options may include nickel alloy, alloy steel, brass, special stainless steel and customer-specified materials.
  • Suitable for OEM CNC machining projects with special strength, wear, corrosion or temperature requirements.
  • Material certificates and inspection reports can be provided according to project requirements.
